The lyrics were translated to English in 1906, Robert Stanley Weir wrote another English version in 1908, which were revised thrice before taking their current form in 2018. I recorded this while searching for farm sounds. On the recording you can hear footsteps in the grass, then the opening of the latch in the gate to the field and then further steps. This short recording was made during a sound search in the scotish border area of scotland. I recorded on the zoom h5 handy recorder, i used superlux headphones. This clip is a short walk from a walking path heading out to shollenberger wetlands in petaluma, ca. The path is a short diversion into a small wooded area leading to a creek that was rushing pretty heavily due to a recent rainfall. There is a small waterfall making rushing sounds in the creek where the recording ends. The person steps on a log, and breaks a twig on the way to the water's edge.
